Pop songs for rock kids. Stockholm, Sweden’s Friends In Theory self described tag line makes sense the moment you hit play on their new self-titled ep. The band sounds like a mathy/emo punk version of The Cardigans. Intriguing and complex guitar riffs and patterns under sometimes simple, sometimes hectic vocal melodies. From the album’s opener, Song 2, through the closer, Wolves, each song is a blistering angst ridden, sugary rock track. It’s a perfectly joyful ep.
